Some CVS tips

1. When you first walk into CVS head to the price scanner/coupon machine!! Scan your Extra Care Card and wait for your coupons to spit out the side. Now once they have, scan your card again. Repeat until the screen on the machine says "no coupons available".

2. Be organized. I most always make a list of what I plan on getting, I match up my coupons to that list and paper clip them all together.

3. Take all your coupons into the store with you - you never know what you might find that you will be able to get for very little, free or even make money on!

4. Know how to hand over your coupons! This is the fun part (for me anyways). Always hand over any CVS coupons that are $/$$ of a purchase first (such as $3 off $15 purchase), then hand over your manufacturer coupons. If you do the reverse you will be costing yourself valuable dollars!

I made a quick CVS trip tonight, here is what I did to give you all an idea of how to shop wisely.

My objective was to get lysol wipes since they are on sale and I had coupons for them. Malcom had run into the store quickly before I went in and saw something he needed that was $10.50 and I did not have a coupon for. No problem! I picked up his item (just antiseptic wash for the curious) and then went to get the lysol wipes. Well, CVS had their brand of the exact same wipes but with more in the container for buy 1 get 1 half off which made the total for 2 $4.50. Then I went over the makeup because I heard that had stuff on clearance. I picked up 4 Maybelline lip glosses for $4 a piece. So my total was $31, I paid $5.47 - of course when I mean paid I mean used my extra care bucks so nothing came out my pocket. Here is what I did when I got to the register:

First gave a CVS coupon for $3 off a $15 purchase
Then gave a CVS coupon for $3 off a $15 cosmetic purchase (that the wonderful coupon machine spit out)
Next was a CVS coupon for $3 off any CVS brand item
Last was 4 Maybelline coupons for $4 off any lip item

So, the lip glosses were free with my manufacturer coupons, and since I bought 4 of them I got to use the 2 $3/$15 coupons which gave me $6 off my purchase of the other items. How fabulous! I'm sorry if my post is confusing, I'm not so good at explaining 'couponing' but oh how I'm addicted to it!
